What ever happened to saying excuse me? I’ve noticed that while shopping for clothes, people never say excuse me. They walk up next to me or behind me and I am supposed to feel their presence and step away from the clothes that I’m looking at. Now usually I do detect their presence by there perfume or smell of smoke or their talking on the phone or breathing down my neck. But, would it really be that hard to say excuse me? So, what I’ve been doing is staying put in one place and waiting for them to say something. Most times they wait a little bit and then ask if they can please get by using a really annoyed tone like I was the rude one. I’ve been doing this experiment for a few, no maybe many, months now and I can conclude that shoppers don’t have manners.
The next question would be, where do I shop? My favorite places are TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Ross. So, the manners situation is aggravated by the small aisles and overstuffed racks. It’s also aggravated by the fact that it takes a LONG time to go through those racks and try to find something good.
But here’s the other thing. There are so many aisles at these stores. If you start down an aisle and see someone is already there, just pick another aisle and come back. These women seem like either a) they absolutely have to do the store in a very precise order or b) the only aisles that are interesting are the aisles that someone else is on.
Excuse me, but I’m just tired of this.
